    This is the second detail I bought from this seller. After receivind the beautiful horse plaque on the left in the picture , I realized how nice it would await near a copper sculpture of a tree that I have in a shadow box - if I had another piece. So I ordered this beautiful tree plaque (on the right of the horse in the picture) from the same seller and I am very pleased with that also. Both items were nicer than I expected. They are well made and very substantial. Squeamish to touch every bit well equally look at. The detailed painting defining the horse and the tree is amazingly intricate and then very well done. I initially bought this detail simply because I needed some other detail simply now I love information technology! The pieces arrived in a timely matter and were well packaged. Communicated was bully. I would (and probably will) purchase from the seller again!

  • A completed piece, prepare for indoor or outdoor apply.

  • Hand carving the plaster bare, using dental tools for fine detail.

  • This is an example of the beginning of a carving. I utilize pencil to sketch a rough drawing on the plaster.

  • As the bandage stone mixture hardens, I sign, appointment, and embed a hook to brand it easy to hang the plaque.

  • I use synthetic rubber to create a mold from the finished plaster carving. Goop.

Carving keeps me out of problem...

I have been creating fine art most of my life... drawing, painting, sculpting. I was fortunate to spend many years using my skills in my piece of work in the earth of architectural precast. That's the subcontractor creating the panels and balustrades and fountains that simulate real rock - limestone, marble, sandstone. My engineering background combined with my art helped me design huge eagles for bridges, decorative lintels for doors, and repairs for historic buildings.

Now I get to cleave just because... and play with details in my original designs inspired by Celtic knot art, mathematics of fractals, paisleys, and mandalas. The more intricate the better. Most of my pieces offset out equally a blank piece of plaster, sometimes clay. I sketch my thought, put on my magnifying spectacles, and showtime carving. It'south all done with hand tools and many hours. When I finally feel done, I use synthetic condom in multiple layers to brand a mold from the original plaster model. Then I pour a custom mixture - similar to concrete, but less coarse - and give it a few days to harden, calculation my initials and date made and embedding a hook in the back. I plough it out of the mold, and enjoy the final steps of applying various paints and finishes to complete the slice.
